If you live in New York, then you have access to some of the best research databases through the New York Public Library. All you need is a library card to get started!

To use the New York Public Library databases to research a topic go to:

http://www.nypl.org/databases/

The best databases for researching the topics are InfoTrac Junior Edition and World Book Online Reference Center.

Searching Tip:

Be very specific about what you are searching for. Do not type in a general subject like "Public Health" Instead try "vending machines in schools."

What if I live in Brooklyn or Queens or somewhere outside of Manhattan?

Anyone who lives in New York State can apply for a NYPL card and get access to a lot of online resources. But, if you do not live in Manhattan, the Bronx or Staten Island, you should check out your local libraries as well.

Brooklyn and Queens Library systems have online researching tools of their own. Make sure to try them out as well!
